Active members

The board of ESN Maastricht relies on active members to make our activities to become a success. The active members assist us in setting up our activities, our dicover weekends, cantus' and the introduction week. On top of this, they are required to be at our Mondaynight international drink in the Highlander. 

As an active member you can take place in a variety of committees. You can join one of the Discover weekend committees, which plan and organize the Discover Belgium, Holland and Germany weekend. You can also join the sports and culture committee or the activity committee. However, joining a committee is completely up to themselves. 
 
As an active member you'll meet a lot of exchangers during their time here. They see you as a spokesperson for ESN. However, most of the time they will just want to have a great time here in Maastricht. What better way to do that is with regular students who can show them the way around all the good stuff and cool places Maastricht has to offer?

Hey people, I'm Alexandros and I study International Business here in Maastricht. I come from Greece so you could say that I'm doing a long term exchange student here. All the rest you can find out up close with some beer. Cheers!

Judith Brehm

Hey there, welcome to Maastricht and I hope you'll have a great time here. My name is Judith and I'm studying European Public Health here at the university. Right now I'm finishing my Bachelor and I'll continue with a Master in Health Management next year. I'm from Germany, came to Holland for studying, and have already been on exchange to the US and Norway, and I love hanging out with people from all over the world. I really enjoy living in Maastricht and I hope that you will soon say the same! I will do my best to make sure you enjoy your time here!

Jolien Dekker

Hi everyone! My name is Jolien (you may start singing Dolly Parton now) and I've joined ESN for the spring semester. I come from Haarlem, a nice town between Amsterdam and the coast, but have been living in Maastricht for 4 years now. Although I had some difficulties with understanding the people here in the beginning, beautiful Maastricht has become my second hometown! I am currently doing my master in European Public Health and will have total freedom in September, if all goes according to plan. In my free time, I love partying and traveling. I hope to party a lot with you this semester!

Hello everybody and welcome to the exciting, intriguing and full of adventures Maastricht. I am pretty sure that you shall have the time of your life in this place and memories that will never be forgotten. My name is Panos and I come from Greece having my master's degree in SBE. After being an erasmus student in Spain my life radically changed and I am pretty sure that this will happen to all of you. Let the party begins folks!

Hey guys, I am Steven and in my sixth year in Maastricht I decided to join ESN, next to SV Circumflex the biggest Dutch student association which I have been an active member of for the last five year. Writing this piece of text, I have served ESN for a semester already. It was a blast, for us as well as the incoming exchange students! Given that one should strive for the best: let’s make this semester even better than last one!! Let’s party, drink, get wasted and be stupid together: you are on exchange and you should celebrate! O by the way, am student in Econometrics as well as International Business Economics so might also bump into many of you at uni. If so, let’s do coffee then instead of beer…

Rob Hovens

 

Hello everyone, my name is Rob Hovens and I’m a 22 year old  student and I study econometrics here at the university. I’m Member of a fraternity called Rusticus and love to hang out with my fraternity mates in the bars of Maastricht. Another thing you should know about me is that I am a serious coffee addict, I drink a few cups of coffee during breakfast to wake up and then also some cups for lunch so that I can really start my day, towards the end of the afternoon I drink some more coffee just because I like the taste and of course after dinner I need an espresso to overcome my after dinner dip. I am really looking forward to the introduction week, we organized some fun activities for you guys like a pub crawl to show you the most popular bars in Maastricht and at the end of the introduction week we have a huge party! Well I hope you have a nice semester here in Maastricht and I’m really looking forward to meeting you
 

Joep van Agteren

I'm a 24 year old, born and raised in a town called Geleen, sited between the hills of the Dutch province of Limburg. I study the master Health and Social Psychology and am very interested in writing, social media and music (especially electronic music) I have been active in ESN for over two years now and I look forward sharing glorious moments with you all up until the late hours of the night/morning.
 

Lieuwe Bouwstra

I am a third year student at University College Maastricht. Besides studying, next to my studies (and to get some extra cash) I have played guitar in restaurants last year, who knows, maybe you will see me play sometime in Maastricht! I look forward to meeting you all.

Julian Slotman

I am Julian, a fourth year student. Most important to know about me: I am 22 years old, I study Econometrics, I like to play field hockey and love to sail. I am proud member of the local student association MSV Tragos. The difference between ‘studying’ and ‘being a student’ is very explicit in Dutch student traditions, I myself try to be an active ‘student’ by getting the necessary grades but also do as much fun stuff besides that. I’ll try to use any opportunity but the best place to explain this and other Dutch student traditions to you is at the bar! But most important is that you enjoy your stay here in Maastricht and have a very good time!

Hello folks, my name's Suppo. I've been living shoulder to shoulder with exchange students for four years, and by now I like to think I breath, sweat and bleed exchange spirit. Simone Op Heij

Heeey everyone, welcome to Maastricht! My name is Simone and I'm from Leveroy, a tiny village near Eindhoven. I'm currently doing a Dutch master on corporate and commercial law at the University of Maastricht. Two years ago I went on exchange to London and had the best time over there. Hope you guys will also have a great time here during your exchange, enjoy it to the fullest because it's over before you know it!! Looking forward to see you all in Maastricht!

Hi Everybody! I’m Slaven and I’m studying Health Sciences at the university. I’m born in Bosnia but I grew up right here in Limburg. Having changed my environment often, I have met a lot of interesting people from all over the world and I continue doing that by travelling and being an active member of ESN.
